CRITICAL FACTORS

Four factors that decide the correct document route.

Apostille country or legalization route

Documents issued in Hague Apostille Convention jurisdictions may follow an apostille route. Non-Convention jurisdictions or special receiving authorities may still require consular legalization.

Receiving authority requirement

Visa offices, AMR, banks, schools, employers and foreign authorities may each require different formats, translation standards or original-copy handling.

Name and record consistency

Name spelling, passport numbers, company names, chop / seal details and address formats should match the filing package to reduce rejection risk.

Translation and courier timing

Certified translation, notarization appointment slots, government processing time and international delivery can affect the overall timeline.

FAQ

Questions about document authentication and apostille support.

Asomerit can coordinate route review, notarization, apostille, legalization, certified translation and delivery for personal, corporate, immigration and bank-related documents, including degree certificates, non-criminal records, powers of attorney, corporate registry files and board resolutions.

The correct route depends on the document issuing country, destination authority and purpose of use. Apostille may apply between Hague Apostille Convention jurisdictions; documents from non-Convention jurisdictions or special use cases may still require embassy or consular legalization.

A single apostille is usually used when the issuing country and receiving country both follow the Hague Apostille Convention. Two-step legalization, sometimes called double legalization, is usually used for non-Hague routes and may involve a notary, MOFA / China Foreign Affairs, and a China embassy or consulate.

The Apostille Convention entered into force for mainland China on 7 November 2023. For documents used in China, the practical route still depends on the issuing jurisdiction, document type, receiving authority and whether certified translation or notarization is also required.

In many cases, apostilled or properly authenticated documents can support work visa, WFOE registration, banking, study or family-related applications. The receiving authority may still require Chinese translation, specific formatting, original copies or additional supporting documents.

Often yes. Chinese authorities, banks, visa offices or registration bureaus may require certified Chinese translation or bilingual formatting even when the original document has been notarized or apostilled.

Yes. We can review the destination requirement, identify the likely notarization, apostille or legalization route, and coordinate translation and submission preparation for foreign-issued documents used in China.

Yes. We can coordinate notarization, apostille or legalization preparation for China-issued public documents that need to be used overseas, subject to the destination country and receiving authority requirements.

Timing depends on the document type, issuing country, notarization requirement, apostille or consular route, translation needs, courier timing and government processing speed. We review the route before confirming a realistic timeline.

No. Final acceptance is decided by the receiving authority, bank, visa office, school, employer or government department. Asomerit supports route review, preparation, coordination and follow-up, but does not guarantee approval or acceptance.
